Author: Brett Diffley

Brett Diffley was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and raised in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. He is a graduate of Finley High School and currently resides in Big Timber, Montana.

Adventure is a driving force for many, but for some, like Diffley, it's a pursuit that shapes their lives and provides invaluable insights for their writing. His diverse experiences and creative spirit make him a compelling storyteller.

Diffley's background is rich and varied. He is a fixed-wing and commercial helicopter pilot and flight instructor. His experiences also include working as a commercial diver, a professional retriever dog trainer, and a self-employed entrepreneur (with patents for his own line of water toys and a wakeboarding trainer-board). Additionally, he has worked as a commercial crab fisherman in Alaska and as a commercial fisherman in several other regions.

He is the author of the Pinnacle Award-winning Davenport Series, which comprises nine books: Perfect Plan, Perfect Plan II, Black Tide, Black Dawn, Safe Passage, Storm Warning, Treacherous Paths, Chance, and The Terror Effect.

From the author:

"There’s a difference between reading a good action-adventure and feeling it. When you feel it, you become fully immersed in the story and connect deeply with its characters, experiencing their joy and sorrow. As a writer, achieving this is crucial, both for entertainment and as a challenge: Can I transport the reader? Can I make them a part of the story? Can I take their hand and guide them through an emotional journey?"

"This is the goal of most books, to varying degrees. A good storyline and its characters are like the layers of an onion, each layer peeling back as you turn the page. A truly good book lures the reader into wanting more, compelling them to reach the core. This, I believe, is the essence of a good thriller—the creation of a captivating rollercoaster ride."

"If you're new to the Davenport Series, I envy you. It’s an action-adventure series unlike any other, offering thrills and entertainment with every page. However, I encourage you to begin with book 1, Perfect Plan, to fully appreciate the evolving storyline, the multiple plotlines, and, most importantly, the characters—whom you will come to love and hate. Note that the detailed character backstories presented in book 1 are significantly condensed by book 5, Safe Passage."

"I believe a writer needs to evolve alongside the reader. Just as plots in real life are rarely one-dimensional, my stories are generally multifaceted, designed to engage and challenge the reader. So, I ask you: Do you stop after peeling back only the first layer? If not…enjoy the ride!"
