Brandon Broll is a British-South African author and polymath. Born in South Africa and trained as a research biologist of wildlife, Broll's political poetry and journalism campaigned against apartheid and he rose to became Chairman of the Civil Rights League of South Africa, before being exiled to London in 1990 as a Huddleston war resister. In London he undertook media studies while delivering softdrinks, furniture and flowers, before he employed his scientific training as a medical journalist, science writer, and reader at the British Library over 20 years. Broll then earned the nickname ”Doctor Electric” after qualifying as an electrician, following which he was awarded a doctorate in history in 2015. In 1994, his biography appeared in the ‘International Who’s Who in Poetry’ (Cambridge), and in 2006 his bestselling science book ‘Microcosmos’ garnered international praise in the US, UK and Europe. In 2020, he set up the publishing house Riols Quarter to begin to publish his output of poetry, fiction and non-fiction, including his life's work research on consciousness. Brandon Broll lives in London and has two sons.
