Barry KuKes (pronounced koo-kiss) has been the Community Outreach & Marketing Director of the Halifax Humane Society from 2017 to 2023, and then CMO in 2024, before joining Volusia County Public Library as its Marketing Specialist in July 2024. Barry is a featured weekly columnist for the USA Today Network. His pet-centric column is published in over 2400 newspapers nationally. He also writes columns for several magazines. In 2020, his book, "Why Do People Have Pets?" was published, with all proceeds from sales being donated to animal shelters. He published a second book, "Why Do Pets Have People?" Again, all proceeds benefit homeless animals. Barry's books are currently in production as audiobooks and should be available on Audible and Amazon by July 2022. Podcasts of some of the book chapters/columns are available on Apple, iHeart, Spotify, Amazon, etc. Barry is currently working on the prequel to his fiction novel, "The Christmas House." The new book is titled "The Christmas House 1845 - 1997." The prequel will complete the three-book Christmas House series.
