Barbara Huelat, CHID, FASID, EDAC, is a distinguished design leader with over 40 years of experience crafting healing environments that span hospitals, clinics, and senior living communities. Her career in healthcare design took on deeper meaning through personal experiences, as she witnessed firsthand the impact of clinical environments on her loved ones’ well-being. These moments fueled her transformation from prioritizing aesthetic appeal to championing human-centered design grounded in science and evidence. Her most recent work, Taming the Chaos of Dementia: A Caregiver's Guide to Interventions That Make a Difference, reflects her deep expertise in dementia care, offering essential guidance for caregivers navigating the complexities of this journey. Her newly released Dementia Caregiver's Journalfurther supports caregivers with reflective prompts and practical insights.
