Hello and Welcome to my author page. My name is Anushka Hayes and as a child I was constantly making up stories in my head. We lived in remote places in old farmhouses because my Dad was a farmer. He was passionate about his animals, his land and what he was going to plant in the fields. Very often I would go and help him, I'm sure sometimes I was more of a hindrance than a help. When I became 10 years old a mobile library van parked up outside our house. It would appear once a fortnight. I was allowed to borrow three books at a time and I would read these over and over again, escaping into the world of make believe. It was delicious and I would count the days until the library van returned. I loved reading and it fueled up my need to write. Writing is my passion. In my professional life I chose other pathways, horticulture, garden design, herbology, but always my writing followed me and helped me and one day I was sure that I would write my own books. The time has come and The Secret of Witchwell is my debut novel. It is the first novel in a collection of three. I am busy putting together the second in the series. Inspiration for my book crept into my consciousness one summers day under the beech tree in the garden. I had intended to fall asleep in the deckchair but somehow the characters in the book just kept prodding and pestering, prompting me to write about them on paper. To add to my very odd day my dog Pickle found a crusty dried out toad among some dead leaves and laid it at my feet. The rest, as they say, is history. I sincerely hope you enjoy reading my book, I hope it brings a smile to your face.
