Hi, I’m Anthony R. Rogers. If you’re reading this, you and I already have something in common—you want to conquer the PMP exam and take your career to the next level. Let me be the first to tell you: You absolutely can. I know because I’ve helped countless professionals do precisely that. And this book? It’s my roadmap to get you there.

But before we dive into all things PMP, let me tell you a bit about myself—not the bullet points you’d find on a resume, but the real story behind why I wrote this book and how I got here.

I’m 37 years old, and I live a beautiful, busy life with my amazing wife and our two lovely daughters. They’re the light in every room and the reason I keep pushing forward. Whether I’m helping them with homework, cheering from the sidelines at a weekend soccer game, or sneaking in a family movie night between work deadlines, they remind me every day what balance, purpose, and joy really look like.

My professional journey began like many others—working hard, navigating ambiguity, and trying to find the right path forward. Ten years ago, I stepped into the world of project management, and it didn’t take long for me to realize two things: first, I loved it; and second, most people had no idea what project managers do. Even fewer knew how to become one, and fewer still could explain how to pass the PMP exam without sounding like a textbook.

I remember when I started studying for the PMP exam myself. I was overwhelmed, frustrated, and, honestly, a little intimidated. The language was dry, and the material felt disconnected from real-world projects. I spent hours trying to memorize terms I couldn’t even pronounce, let alone apply. And every time I asked someone for help, I either got vague encouragement or more jargon. It wasn’t good enough. I knew there had to be a better way—something practical, something human.
So I began developing my system.

I broke down each domain into real-world concepts. I found patterns. I created analogies. I tested, failed, reworked, and refined until I wasn’t just passing practice exams—I was understanding them. And when I finally passed, I didn’t celebrate alone. I started teaching what I’d learned to others—first to coworkers, then to small groups, and eventually to full teams in corporate training programs. The more I taught, the clearer it became: This wasn’t just something I was good at. This was something I had to do.
Over the years, I’ve helped hundreds of professionals—engineers, consultants, nurses, even small business owners—successfully pass the PMP exam. But I don’t just teach people how to pass a test. I teach them how to think like project managers. Because the truth is, the PMP exam isn’t just about definitions and formulas. It’s about leadership. It’s about structure. It’s about understanding how to bring people, processes, and purpose together to deliver results. That’s what real project management is—and that’s what this book is all about.

I’ve always approached project management with the belief that it should feel empowering, not exhausting. You shouldn’t need a PhD to pass this exam. You don’t need to spend 9 months reading material that feels like robots wrote it. What you do need is a strategy, a coach, and a system that works. And if you let me, I’ll be all three for you.

In this book, I’ve poured in every insight, lesson, shortcut, and perspective I’ve learned from the past 10 years in the PMP space. I’ve written it the way I would explain things to a close friend—clear, direct, and encouraging. You’ll find no fluff here. No empty theories. Just what you need to understand, apply, and pass the PMP exam—without losing your mind.

I’m proud of this book because it reflects who I am—not just as a professional, but as a person. I’m friendly by nature, always open to a new idea, and deeply committed to helping people rise to their potential. I’ve always believed that innovative solutions come from simplifying complexity, not adding to it. I believe in respectful leadership, honest communication, and the power of sound systems. And I think that once you pass this exam, you’ll be able to lead projects—and teams—with more clarity, confidence, and integrity than ever before.

Suppose we were sitting across from each other over coffee. In that case, I’d probably be in my usual leather jacket, wearing a smile, maybe scribbling a project timeline on a napkin to explain a tricky concept. That’s the tone I’ve tried to bring into this book. Whether you’re reading this in an office, on a train, or at your kitchen table after putting the kids to bed, I want you to feel like I’m right there with you, guiding you through.

This book is more than a study guide. It’s a personal coaching experience. It’s me, in your corner, cheering you on and equipping you with exactly what you need. Because I know you can do this—and I know how much it means to get it done right.
When I’m not writing or coaching, you’ll find me spending time with my family, working on DIY projects around the house, or listening to jazz on a quiet Sunday morning. Life’s not perfect, but it’s full—and I’m grateful for every messy, wonderful bit of it.
So here’s what I want you to take away from this biography: I’ve been where you are. I’ve felt the pressure, the doubt, the late-night Google searches. I wrote this book to make your path easier, more transparent, and smarter. You don’t need to be perfect. You need a guide who knows the terrain.

And that’s what I aim to be. Let’s do this together.
