I grew up on a sailboat in Florida and spent my elementary years "daydreaming too much," according to my report cards. I kept daydreaming through a BA and MFA in creative writing and a fist full of novels. Even though I’ve lived in the Midwest, Phoenix, finally landing in Portland, Oregon, I’m still a Florida girl at heart—currently polishing a novel that cuts close to the bone of memoir. When I'm not muddling through some crisis--real or imagined--you'll find me hiking SOMEWHERE with my husband, Jim, meddling in my kids' lives, or teaching writing for Grand Canyon University.
