Amy Shannon is a legend keeper, storyteller, and historian whose roots run deep in upstate New York. A lifelong resident of the Capital Region—Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties—Amy calls the Ballston Spa/Malta area is her true hometown, a place where she’s planted her heart and built a life of meaning. A mother of four, Amy, shares a close bond with three of her sons, each one a steadfast supporter of her creative journey. She is the founder of the acclaimed Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews, a professional book reviewer, editor, author promoter, and host of the Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews Podcast on Spotify. Amy’s literary path began with full-length, dramatic, character-driven fiction. As her health shifted, so did her storytelling—toward short stories, children’s books, and historical nonfiction. In 2024, she published Balls-Town: A Community of History, Friends, Neighbors, and Lingering Spirits, a tribute to the pioneers of Balls-Town that earned a spot on Amazon’s historical best-sellers list. Her historical article More than a Guiding Force: The Life and Legacy of Lucretia Booth, published in the Saratoga County Roundtable and Historical Society journal (July–August 2025), marked her emergence as a local historian. It ignited a passion to preserve the lives of those whose names risk fading from memory—individuals from Balls-Town and its neighboring communities who deserve more than a footnote. Amy wrote another article, inspired by her second cousin, Bill, who is a Schenectady county historian, called The Ballston Brief: The Law School That Time Misplaced. It was published in November 2025. Amy writes with a purpose: to honor, to remember, and to inspire. Her words are vessels of legacy, carrying stories forward so that no one is forgotten. Her most recent nonfiction historical book (local history) is Reminiscences of Balls-Town: Echoes and Whispers of Forgotten Legacies along with its companion cookbook, Balls-Town: A Pioneer's Cookbook, published in April 2026. Her children's books are What am I? and Be Kind, and coming soon "I hate You."
