Alex Parkview is the pen name of a former Army soldier who did twenty-seven months in the sandbox during a six-year hitch, then came home to trade patrols for pine ridges and 4 a.m. alarms. A single father to two grown daughters, he now measures distance in trail miles and elevation gain, with a grey cat named Erebus permanently parked on his shoulder. His headphones are proudly polyjamorous: Johnny Cash growls about ghosts, Britney demands more, Kesha throws glitter, Lorna Shore drops the world into the abyss, Cat Stevens brings it home, and then it all loops again. The playlist makes perfect sense to exactly one person on earth. When he’s not chasing first light or digging through the Nag Hammadi codices and every gospel the early church tried to bury, he writes—blunt, scarred, and usually with trail dust still in the treads of his boots.
