Alana Armstrong is a Canadian writer and educator based in Alberta, with over twenty-five years of experience teaching English, History, Visual Arts, and Theatre. Her work spans both science fiction and reflective nonfiction, unified by an interest in identity, ethics, and how people navigate change. A lifelong lover of science fiction, Alana dedicates her speculative fiction to her late father, Allan, a scientific engineer and fellow science fiction enthusiast whose curiosity shaped her creative life. Her recent nonfiction books blend Stoic philosophy, mindfulness, yoga, and natural approaches to wellbeing for educators and thoughtful general readers. These include The Stoic Teacher, The Mindful Performer (2024), and her latest book, Unchained: Leaving Survival Behind and Reclaiming a Life That Fits, which explores the shift from endurance to alignment and the quiet courage required to reclaim a life shaped by intention. When not writing or teaching, Alana leads community philosophy and hiking groups and enjoys travel, reading, and science fiction cinema.
