Ajay Mahajan was born in Birmingham, England, and grew up in India in the beautiful campus of IIT Delhi. After graduating from St. Columba’s High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee), before moving to the United States in the early 1990s. At Tulane University in New Orleans, he completed his MS and PhD in mechanical engineering, specializing in Robotics, Controls, and Artificial Intelligence. For over three decades, Ajay has balanced a diverse career as a professor, scientist, administrator, and entrepreneur, contributing to projects for NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, global industries, and even two Formula One race teams, Renault F1 in Oxford, UK, and Toyota F1 in Cologne, Germany. His professional work spans over 150 published technical papers, but storytelling has always remained one of his quiet passions. In 2024, Ajay made his literary debut with Gravity of a Promise, introducing the readers to Dr. Nikhil Nanda and Tina Kohli. The series continues with his second novel, Gravity of a Vision, released in 2025, plunging the characters into another high-stakes international adventure. When he’s not writing or immersed in technology, Ajay enjoys swimming, playing squash, sculling, and practicing martial arts, including kendo, bokken, and fencing. He lives in North Canton, Ohio, with his wife and two daughters.
