A.J. Hewitt is a professionally trained photographer who spent almost a decade as a forensic photographer with New Scotland Yard. In her debut non-fiction book The Darkroom: Case Files of a Scotland Yard Forensic Photographer, she invites readers into a world shrouded in secrecy, until now. She takes readers on an enlightening journey into darkness, murder and mayhem. Hewitt attended Art and Design College to study photography, art and design. She then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree (double major), graduating with distinction (cum laude). Insatiably curious and a lifelong learner, she is in the final stage of completing a psychology degree. She is a voracious reader, an open water scuba diver and has travelled widely, with her cameras, on four continents. She's a storyteller at heart, whether through her camera lens or with a pencil and paper. Having spent tens of thousands of hours photographing crime scenes, and attending court as an expert witness, she brings a unique insider's perspective to her writing. She envisions turning her vast lived experience of homicides, femicides, and crime scene investigation into more books and a screenplay. Her philosophy in life is simple, be kind and laugh often.
