About this listen

The exquisite niece of Lord Edward and Lady Charlotte Malory, Regina Ashton, is outraged over her abduction by the arrogant, devilishly handsome Nicholas Eden - and is determined to make the rogue pay...with his heart.

A golden-haired seducer, Nicholas has been hardened by a painful secret in his past. And now that he has besmirched Reggie's good name, the hot-tempered lady has vowed to wed him.

Her fiery beauty stirs Nicholas as no woman ever has - and the rake arouses Reggie's passion to an unendurable level. Such uncontrolled desires can lead only to dangerous misunderstandings...and, perhaps, to a love that can live only once in a lifetime.

The characters are v alive and the story has you really immersed in the people and the family. Really pleased to have discovered Johanna Lindsey as an author she writes great books

Really great story line. Gripping listen

This book is a longtime favourite of mine so I was thrilled to find an audio version. The narrator is American, which seems an odd choice and the aristocratic English accent needed for most characters is awful - sometimes veering into Irish or Scottish pronunciation, but mostly just a poor imitation of an English accent. It’s very distracting and such a shame as it really does spoil the story.

Wonderful story, awful English accent

I really love this book, one of my long time favourites. I decided to give the audio version a go. Unfortunately the narrator didn't live up to my vision of the characters, indeed the tone of Nicholas' voice was, in my opinion, all wrong. There seemed to be a lot of Scottish and Irish tones instead of English

A favourite novel but...

I loved this book and thought I would enjoy the audible while gardening or in the hot tub. The narration was awful I could not believe that was Nick for one minute. I had to stop listening to it.

Terrible audible
