Summary
“…narrating the novels of Jane Austen reminded me that no matter how much the world changes, human nature never does.” (Alison Larkin)
Ever since Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy emerged from the lake in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, the novels of Jane Austen have become more popular than ever, delighting millions of fans all over the world. Now, Alison Larkin's critically acclaimed narrations of Austen's six completed novels are brought together in this very special 200th anniversary audio edition. "Alison Larkin's narration will captivate listeners from the first sentence", raves AudioFile magazine about the Earphones Award-winning recording of Sense and Sensibility, which starts the collection.
Hailed by The Times as "marvelously light footed...hugely entertaining," Alison Larkin is the perfect vessel to bring the deft, satirical novels of Jane Austen to sparkling new life.
Alison Larkin is the best-selling author of The English American, a comedienne and the award-winning narrator of over 150 audiobooks. In addition to Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice with Songs from Regency England, Mansfield Park, Persuasion & Poems, Emma and Northanger Abbey and the History of England by Jane Austen, other classic narrations include Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass; Fairytales of the Fiercer Sex by the Brothers Grimm, et al; Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest (with James Warwick); Peter Pan & the Inconsiderate Waiter; and Agatha Christie's The Secret Adversary.
Title and end music: "The Lonely Ash Grove", sung by Alison Larkin.

The books are not labelled/titled correctly.
I love Austin, and this version ia actually one of the best to listen to. It is just when you download the audible, you can't see what book you are listening to. You have to guess. It doesn't say Mansfield Park, or Emma. It lists the name as all of the books. It may not bother some people, but it does irritate me somewhat if what I want to listen to a specific book in the series.

Impossible to find the start of the novels
You have to just guess where they start and stop because the tracks have no titles.

Delightful stories but narrator somewhat lacking.
Jane Austen never ceases to delight, so having all 6 books in one purchase was wonderful. However, sadly, Alison Larkin is not a skilled narrator - whilst some parts are really well read, she has an irritating manner on many others. She seems to think it necessary to read in slow motion at times, giving each word a peculiar annunciation. This is SO irritating, that I almost returned the recording several times. indeed it was only the fact that I love Jane Austen enormously that stopped me.

Full Jane Austin novels
I love that the six novels are narrated unabridged and in full.
The narration is in keeping with the period.

well worth buying
what an achievement for the narrator, she always spike complex sentences with perfect structure and diction so you could follow them and made even the most wordy bits accessible. I was nearly put off by the only negative a really silly voice for Marianne in the first novel but was so glad I didn't . I have read most Jane Austin novels many times but hearing it read I discovered so many new details.. I miss so much when I skim read.
it would really help if I the download file were clearly labelled with what books were included in that download
