Summary

My daughter is getting married to the man of her dreams. But will she pay for it with her life?

My beautiful daughter Ellie walks down the aisle in her full-length lace dress, beaming with happiness. As she exchanges her vows with Kyle, who looks devastatingly handsome in his smart black suit, I hope this time will be different....

As confetti settles on the shoulders of the happy couple, I reassure myself that Kyle Beaumont is a charming, successful businessman. He’s so different to her ex-boyfriend—the man who tried to hurt my Ellie.

Except, only days after the ceremony, I discover a letter that makes my heart flip when I realize what my son-in-law is hiding. Ellie’s past is about to catch up with her, and I am certain my daughter is in danger.

But I’m her mother, and I’ll stop at nothing to protect her....

An utterly gripping psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists from the number one best-selling author of The Doctor’s Wife. If you loved Behind Closed Doors and The Night She Disappeared, you’ll be hooked by My Daughter’s Husband.

Mr D has done it again!👏🏽😁🤗

Wow….. another BRILLIANT book from Daniel Hurst! I always look at a cover and if it doesn’t look great i don’t bother to read the description. I know that is SO wrong and the saying goes “Don’t judge a book by its cover “ But i do! With Daniel though, the minute i see he has a new book, i buy it FIRST, then i read the description!!!🤔🤗🤣 I just know that whatever Daniel writes i am absolutely sure i will LOVE it! I actually don’t have any other authors that i feel that way about their writing 🤔 (not in a Kathy Bates way🤣) So you can breathe again Daniel 😰🤣 This was another BRILLIANT follow up, as was the doctor’s books🤗 I don’t want to say to much but just as i was thinking “the baddie “ wasn’t coming and i kind of forgot about him…. BOOM!😰🤗 Again i don’t want to spoil anything for people reading this but does anything go right for this poor mum and daughter 😂 If you enjoy Daniel’s books then this will have you hooked as ALWAYS! The narration was PERFECT! Thank you SO much for your OUTSTANDING narration😁💯💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️❤️❤️ I HIGHLY recommend this book! If you are reading this then BUY IT! You won’t be disappointed💯💯💯🤗🤗 Thank you Daniel Hurst for ANOTHER AMAZING BRILLIANT WONDERFUL book🤗👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯💯💯💯💯 keep them coming!🙏🏽🤗😂❤️❤️❤️ Thank you audible for another WONDERFUL book🤗🤗💯💯💯💯💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽❤️xxxx

Great!

Wow, I really loved this psychological thriller, which is the follow up to My Daughter's Boyfriend, which I also loved. In this book, we have three narrators, who were fantastic, and the whole audiobook is amazing.

The story about Dawn and her daughter Ellie continues, with Ellie now getting married to a man called Kyle. But is Kyle all he seems to be? And what shadow is lurking, ready to pounce on Dawn and Ellie once more? Dawn is a wonderful mother, and is always very protective over Ellie. I liked this about her.

Full of tension, twists, surprises and suspense, you will be thrilled and delighted with this wonder of a story. It is simply superb, and it is written well. I loved it, and I look forward to many more books by this author. I would love to see more of Dawn and Ellie, so let's hope there will be another book in this series! Highly recommended!

Disappointing

I love Daniel Hurst books and was looking forward to listening to this one as I do with all of his books, however I found this one disappointing, a bit boring and predictable.

Decent - not as good as the first

Not as good as the first book but enjoyed reading the sequel, felt a little rushed but I flew through it, a quick read. 3/5

Stunning read

Oh my God! I really love Daniel Hurst's books!

This was even better than book one, I'm already looking forward to the next installment (there has to be one, right?!)
As always the narrators did an excellent job, really brought the book to life and I'm so grateful to Bookouture Audio, via Netgalley for gifting me an advance copy.

The much-needed sequel!

SO pleased that @Daniel Hurst gave us a sequel to the brilliant “My Daughter’s Boyfriend”.

Five years on, Dawn and newlywed Ellie are back, and Harvey has served his time in prison, after the death of his son, Ellie’s ex-boyfriend, Daryl.

So not only is there the matter of Harvey’s determination to seek revenge for Daryl’s death, Dawn is concerned about Kyle, Ellie’s new husband, after finding a letter that doesn’t make sense.

I loved the dual threats, which added more layers to this gripping story. The pace is fast; no messing, Daniel Hurst leads us right into the heart of the action.

As the different threads of the story collide, WOW! It was so tense and I held my breath, waiting for the inevitable big twist and it didn’t disappoint. Well played, Mr Hurst 👏🏻

I’m a big fan of Tamsin Kennard’s narration and I tend to speed up audiobook narration speeds, so this was a really quick listen for me. Harrie Dobby and Adam Sims were also excellent and I always appreciate a full cast for an audiobook.

What appallingly bad writing!

I thought ‘My Daughter’s Boyfriend’ was bad enough. I’d accidentally bought these books while browsing a good author’s books, not realising they’d slipped a few of Hurst’s novels into the list. Daughter’s Boyfriend was really bad, but as I’d bought this one I thought I may as well listen to it. What a bore! Firstly, the quality of the writing is abysmal: incorrect use of words and grammar. Secondly, it’s padded with repetition; how many times can an everyday item or event be described? It was tedious. As was, thirdly, the really slow storyline. Fourthly, the characters aren’t likeable; I really didn’t care what happened to them. And finally, the plot was incredibly obvious. Both books are quite short, and it feels as if an editor suggested there was too much storyline for one book, but the author had no idea how to turn it into two books. So it ended up with a lot of repetition and terribly boring padding. And it feels as if it was written by an extremely inexperienced author who was given a close deadline and, instead of enriching the story, he filled it with highly inferior writing over 24 hours. If you want an intelligently written thriller, don’t waste your money on this one.

Too wordy

Would've been a decent short story or novella, but it had been unnecessarily padded out and sent on pointless tangents to stretch it out into a novel.
