Summary

A killer is playing cat and mouse...and winning.

DCI Whitney Walker’s in trouble. She’s threatened with demotion if she screws up another case. So, when a killer starts murdering female students, it’s a chance to redeem herself.

Forensic psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish, has spent her life inside the university walls, but when one of her students is murdered, she steps out from behind the text books and puts her skills to the test.

The two headstrong women join forces to stop the killer. But sparks fly when real world policing meets academic theory, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Deadly Games is the first book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series. If you like serial killer mysteries and psychological intrigue, then you’ll love Sally Rigby’s thrilling listen performed by award-winning narrator Clare Corbett.

Includes a special bonus note from the author.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Good start to the series.

Not sure how this series will pan out, but hopefully it won't become too far fetched. Good start, but will reserve judgement until the next book!

Reads like a young, young adult book

All of the characters are very two dimensional, the villan was obvious and the motive tenuous. It's like weak young YA novel with murder and sex thrown in.

Brilliant

Loved this book, the characters and the story line. Will definitely listen to more, hopefully with the same narrator as she was excellent.

A good series

went along at a nice pace. Good outline for the character 's and how they team up together. I guessed the murderer 's about half way through the book. Will be reading or listening to other books I the series.

Good plot but too easy to crack

The last part of the plot was too obvious and I got there well before the 2 proffesionals, but I am a retired police surgeon!

Average/dodgy accents

Couldn’t decide sometimes if Witney was generic west mids / South African or perhaps Kiwi, although it must be really hard to narrate so many different characters. Predictable plot but harmlessly soothing as i paint the garden fence

Brilliant Book

I love Crime Fiction, lately I've found alot of authors incredibly slow in their pace of the crime/s but this story was spot on.
I loved the Main Characters and the hostility on one side and complete incomprehension of it by ithe Doctor.
Both characters were so determined to get their way constantly it was amusing.
Then narrator has a beautiful voice which was great to listen to but totally ineffective for the male charactors
I'd love to recommend keeping this narrator but in future to add another for the male lines because that would be perfection.
