Summary
You can bury the bodies, but you can’t hide the truth.
When a landslip on Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastal path reveals the harrowing remains of two bodies, ex-DCI Evan Warlow’s quiet retirement is shattered.
As the original investigator for the two missing persons eight years before, Evan is recalled to help with what is now a murder inquiry. But as the killer scrambles to cover up the truth, the body count rises.
Working with a new young team, Warlow peels away the layers to reveal the dark and rotten heart that beats beneath the chocolate box tranquillity of an area renowned for its quiet beauty.
But does he still have what it takes to root out the monstrous truth before all hell lets loose?
The Engine House is the gripping debut crime thriller set in the heart of wild Wales from author Rhys Dylan. Perfect for fans of LJ Ross, JD Kirk. JM Dalgliesh and Simon McCleave. Celtic noir with a spatter of dark humour.

Slow pace
Quite a non inspired story with little suspense. I find the characters lacks a sense of humour. But well narrated and a basic detective story.

Good detective story with many a twist but no unnecessary violence or bad language.
A good traditional detective story with twist and turns. Just when you think you have solved it there is another twist. A great read and a good author who does not need to include unnecessary violence, bad language or sex scenes. A rarity from so many modern authors who seem unable to write a gripping story without . Well done and cant wait to start the second book in the series.

liked the characters
I'm fed up with police crime stories that either have the flawed officer, divorce, drink ,drugs etc or alternately the perfect team of caring supportive colleagues fighting crime as a moral crusade. this was a good story with likeable characters without gratuitous violence of wildly unbelievable plot. really enjoyed it.

Brilliant!
I thoroughly enjoyed this and would certainly recommend it. The story was engaging from the outset, full of twists and turns, I loved the main characters. The narration was very good and what even better was the Welsh pronunciation - excellent. This happens so rarely and was done so naturally. Looking forward to another by this author.

Murder in West Wales
I really enjoyed this tale. Great storyline, interesting characters and good narration. Also, of special interest as it is set in Pembrokeshire.
