Summary

The ninth book in the bestselling Chronicles of St Mary's series which follows a group of tea-soaked disaster magnets as they hurtle their way around History. If you love Jasper Fforde or Ben Aaronovitch, you won't be able to resist Jodi Taylor.

They say you shouldn't push your luck. Max gives her own luck a massive shove every day - and it's only a matter of time until luck pushes back...

January 1536 - the day of Henry VIII's infamous jousting accident. Historians from St Mary's are there in force, recording and documenting. And, arguing - obviously.

A chance meeting between Max and the Time Police leads to a plan of action. And, it's one that will have very serious consequences - especially for Max. Her private life is already more than a little rocky. But with Leon recovering and Matthew safe in the future there will never be a better opportunity to bring down Clive Ronan, once and for all.

From Tudor England to the burning city of Persepolis - and from a medieval siege to a very nasty case of 19th century incarceration - Max is determined that this time, he will not escape.

The best yet!

These books just keep getting better. Thank you Jodi - I now know more about history than ever before. I am left with an insatiable appetite for history as well as everything else you have written! My ideal stories are so beautifully narrated by Zara...I can lose myself in ... contemporary time... whenever I want.

Fantastic

Another gripping, funny and sad story from the Chronicles of Saint Mary's. Adventure through time, will she get home or will her life be changed forever in an earlier time.

I love historians

This one was a bit different, which was good as it was a tiny bit annoying at one point. I actually shouted at Alexa "that was obviously going to happen" but the twist breathed new life into the book and as always i was content to be taken on the adventure. Not as much heartbreak in here but plenty of plot. Just wish I didn't have to wait a while for the next St Mary's book.

Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm smash it again!

The only problem with this book is you wont be able to stop listening. Other than that all that needs to be said is ... enjoy!

Wow brilliant

Brilliamt, best one so far, had me laughing out loud, much to the surprise of my fellow passengers and then almost had me in tears. I also didn't spot the ending coming. Beautifully written and superbly performed by Zara Ramm.

Fantastic

Having followed the adventures of St Mary’s since the beginning I can say that this is a bloody good book. The reading by Zara Ramm gives the characters life and many laugh out loud moments as well as sad throat lump ones too. If you’re in two minds as whether to buy it or not I’ll always say buy it, it’ll make your day better.

Best yet

If you enjoy the St Mary’s stories, you’ll know what to expect- but Jodi Taylor has pulled out all the stops in this story. It’s beautifully plotted and immensely satisfying. Cliffhanger ending, but you were always going to read the next one, weren’t you?
