A gathering of seven bestselling crime writers at a Scottish Highlands book festival turns deadly in a wickedly dark thriller that pays homage to Agatha Christie’s classic murder mysteries, from the bestselling author of The Bonnie Dead.

When legendary crime novelist William MacRae is found dead in suspicious circumstances at his Glasgow home, Police Scotland’s premier investigator DCI John Lomond is put on the case.
After discovering a list of seven bestselling authors – all old friends of MacRae’s – Lomond and his team head north to the Ullapool Book Festival, where the seven are gathering to remember their fallen friend.
But a vicious storm is closing in. And not everyone, it seems, has fond memories of MacRae. Or each other.
Cut off from the outside world at a remote country home, it doesn’t take long for the whisky to flow, old resentments to reignite…and another dead body to appear.
Over the course of one weekend, Lomond must sift through a web of red herrings, secrets, and lies.
One of them is a killer. But can Lomond unmask them before it’s too late?©2022 Andrew Raymond (P)2023 W.F.Howes Ltd Crime Thrillers Gerilim Kurgu Mystery Polisiye Prosedür Suç Thriller & Suspense İskoçyalı

I absolutely loved this. I'm a huge Agatha Christie fan and this was so clever. I laughed out loud at a few points too.

As always Angus King is perfect. Can't wait for more of this series!

Perfect!

Gripping tale

Not as good as book 1 in the series. I like the characters - but the story - defied belief at times.

Just a bit unbelievable.

Not sure if it’s down to the somewhat far fetched denouement or the overall narrative style but it’s not the best novel. That said, the narrator keeps it enjoyable.

Enjoyable but unremarkable

So bored I couldn’t finish it. Shame as I thought the main characters were interesting. Too many characters overall to be interesting and plot was too contrived.

So slow
