Some murders leave behind more than just a body...

Still mourning the devastating loss of a close colleague, DCI Lomond and his team are called in to investigate a murder on the set of a popular Scottish detective TV show.

But the victim isn’t a star actor. It’s the show’s official police advisor – legendary Serious Crime Squad detective Jack Beattie.

Beloved by all who worked with him, the crime appears to be without motive or suspects.

Until Lomond digs into Beattie’s seemingly unblemished career, and uncovers shocking secrets involving Lomond’s superiors.

With a brash new addition to his Major Investigations Team, and the press breathing down his neck, Lomond must risk his entire future – both personal and professional – to bring a brutal killer to justice.

If you like writers like JD Kirk, Ian Rankin, and Stuart MacBride, this addictive thriller will have you gripped long into the night, and a shocking final twist will leave you breathless.©2025 Andrew Raymond (P)2026 W. An excellent continuation for the characters in the books before and with a very intriguing storyline. Excellent plot twist at the end too that made me gasp! Couldn’t wait to hear the next instalment. Narration excellent too.

I always have an audiobook on the go but this was one of the best books I’ve listened to in a very very long time. Well drawn characters brilliant plot and honestly couldn’t stop listening from beginning to end. The plot carries through from book 1 so these are best read in order but I genuinely can’t wait for the next book in the series. Fans of jd Kirk will love John Lomond and his team. You definitely won’t regret purchasing this, these books are simply fabulous!
