If you were catapulted back to 1976, what would you do?

Jason Apsley has a mind-boggling second chance to change the future, but will he take it?

Meet Jason Apsley, a 42-year-old divorcee who's an opinionated, miserable bugger—struggling with life, exacerbated by his negative attitude. A random event shifts time, causing Jason to continue life in 1976, six months before he's due to be born. He even left behind Beth, his one and only friend who supported him through some difficult times.

Can life get any worse?

Although Jason is the same person, he finds himself teleported into the life of another Jason Apsley from a different generation, one with a very different outlook on life. All alone, Jason tries to enlist the support of his grandfather on this turbulent journey and finds he has to adapt quickly, as every encounter brings further head-spinning challenges.

But what of Beth, his one true friend who suffered a traumatic childhood? Will Jason be brave enough to seize this opportunity to change her past? Can Jason change the future and become more like other Jason, or will time refuse to bend?

Will Jason learn from his past and take this second chance?

I always find it hard to settle into a new book. However, this was an easy, immediate hit for me. Great characters and great performance. I didn’t like the narrative voice at first but I’m glad I persevered as I thought it was a great little story. Lots of swearing though.

Off to buy the others…

Only three books?!!

I adored this both in terms of the story and the delivery by Lee. A huge well done to Adrian and Lee on this collaboration.
If I was to shoot holes, I'd just say the voice for Jenny bordered on hilarity, but didn't ruin it.
I'm excited to purchase the next book.
If you're reading this review...... don't hesitate, buy it!!

Brilliant Story and Narration

This was a great story, a lot different to my usual sci-fi genre, yet still found it ticking all the boxes and then some! I hope there’s a sequel. I listened to this entire book in one night, take a bow Adrian!

Excellent

As some others have said, the narration is not up to par. I had to skip back 30 secs many dozens of times, just to catch what the narrator had said. To use a 1970's TV advert from the UK to descibe how he sounded, it sounded like the narrator was about to ask for a "Decond class deturn do Dottingham, dlease". Sorry narrator.

As for the story, again, it was nice. Just nice. Not exciting, not amazing, but nice. At the end I have no idea how, or why, Jason was sent back to 1976. It was all a bit "Life on Mars" as a story, but without the police, or DCI Gene Hunt. But it was nice. Jason plods along, being nice and doing nice things for nice people and not being too nice to not nice people. The Yorkshire Ripper gets a few mentions but nothing seems to happen about that. I'm guessing that in later books something happens because of the things Jason has done - they just don't really happen in this book.
I enjoyed it though and if I can't decide how to use a credit on Audible, I may listen to another in the series. Which would be nice.

Nice story but a bit plodding

I came across this by accident, however absolutely hooked and can’t want for the rest of the Jason Apsley series. It is well narrated by Lee Beddow who makes the story come alive.

Absolutely loved it - I couldn’t stop listening
