Özet
Thrilled at his first command, a little brig sloop called Teazer; Thomas Kydd must race to bring his ship to battle readiness in order to defend Malta against Barbary corsairs. But his jubilation does not last long - peace is suddenly declared. Instead he sets sail as captain of a convict transport for the penal colony in New South Wales - and challenges that will test both his seamanship and humanity to the limit.©2006 Julian Stockwin (P)2011 AudioGO Ltd Historical Fiction Suspense Thriller & Suspense Kurgu

Christian Rodska again provides a superb narration, almost a dramatisation, of the continuing tale in Julian Stockwin’s “Kydd” saga. These yarns are more than a match for the Aubrey/Maturin tales, the Hornblower tales, the Drinkwater tales or the Bolitho series.

Another cracking tale

Aubrey and Maturin for the rest of the series I hope. Great delivery as always from Mr Rodska. Are these books still being written? I hope they are.

Aubrey and Maturin 2.0 for the next book?

loved it. Kydd's character grows and matures at each new challenge and on to the next one

Kydd's journey through life so interesting

Very easy to get lost in the narrative of this book. The narrator does a superb job of capturing the different characters in a very entertaining series of navel adventures. Loved this book. The author really does an excellent job bringing the characters life in this fictional history of life at sea during the Napoleonic wars.

Stuck for words. Its brilliant.

Having followed Kydd this far I would defy anyone who has identified this character not to enjoy him getting his first real command. Stockwin makes the most of this "unexpected" turn of events and once again shows his excellent knowledge as he describes Kydd's struggles to get his ship and crew ready for sea. All delivered with Rodska's thoroughly authentic feel and this is genuinely a fine continuation of the series.

If you enjoyed the previous books then getting this is an easy recommendation.

Joyous!
