Scott's discourses on the psychological, religious, physical, and preternatural explanations for contemporary beliefs in ghosts, witches, warlocks, fairies, elves, diabolism, the occult, and even werewolvesare are essential for acolytes of the dark and macabre. Villagers - mainly young women - suffered from unseen torments that caused them to writhe, shriek, and contort their bodies, complaining of pins stuck into their flesh and of being haunted by specters. Believing that they suffered from assaults by an invisible spirit, the community began a hunt to track down those responsible for the demonic work.

False prophets are arising at an alarming rate in these last days, as Jesus told us they would. Too often, believers are deceived and their lives ruined by prophetic witchcraft—messages and messengers that sound spiritually appealing but are actually destructive weapons of the devil. Only when prophetic witchcraft is exposed can we resist it and help others avoid Satan’s snares.

I am amazed at how often God’s people in the Bible had to confront witchcraft. Make no mistake about it—God really hates witchcraft. He detests it because He knows how it will destroy our lives. I want to look closely at the four instances where the early apostles confronted witchcraft in various forms. Also, I will share some personal stories of how I’ve had to deal with witchcraft in my pastoral ministry over the years. I believe these testimonies will reveal key aspects of witchcraft that Christian believers are facing today.

It is important to understand that spirits cannot operate on the Earth except a human person grants them access and therefore witchcraft is one of the devil's most effective avenues of entrance into human affairs. Witches work with familiar spirits solely to dominate, manipulate, and destroy—when an individual is under the influence of witchcraft, he or she becomes a slave and thus expresses the will of the person casting these spells and curses on him.
