The Sea of Paper Summary

Tahra, a 13 year old girl strives to someday be a famous singer and looks for ideas in every day life. She is going about her normal life at school, when she splashes her papers on the ground. She laughs it off and takes the mistake as inspiration for a song. The moment she gets home, she writes a song about a deserted island and the very next thing she knows, she is actually there. There are many strange things about the island including the water is paper, making Tahra believe it is a dream, at first. However, the longer she is trapped there, the more she realizes she may never get home to her beloved family. She tries various tricks to try to get off of the island, but it seems every way she tries fails. Meanwhile, her parents panic and try to figure out where their eldest child has gone, having no knowledge she vanished into thin air. Tahra’s mother, Beth also struggles throughout the story with her past of losing loved ones and fears the same fate will come upon her daughter. How will Tahra ever find her way home?
