Fyodor Dostoyevskys brilliant short masterpiece delves into the mind of a ranting, slightly unhinged civil servant. If it were published today, it would undoubtedly be hailed as an avant-garde post-modern triumph. While the text is rich with conversational philosophizing, the vividness and humor of the narrator make it a captivating and entertaining read. (Review by Hugh McGuire)
