The beautiful young Dorian Gray has his portrait painted by society artist Basil Hallward. Admired by all, the dazzling, wealthy, handsome young man has everything anyone could wish for, or so it appears. Oscar Wilde's novel is a masterly study of moral corruption, a tour-de-force of suspense and surprise.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a dark and elegant classic about beauty, corruption, vanity, desire, and the hidden cost of a life devoted only to pleasure. The story follows Dorian Gray, a young man of extraordinary beauty whose portrait mysteriously bears the marks of age, sin, and moral decay while he remains outwardly unchanged. As Dorian moves through a world of art, luxury, temptation, and influence, his life becomes a disturbing meditation on appearance, conscience, and the soul.

Step into a world where beauty conceals corruption and every whispered secret sends ripples through the surface of polite society. Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray stands as one of literature's most brilliant and haunting meditations on vanity, morality, and the eternal struggle between outward appearance and inner reality.

Written in his distinctively dazzling manner, Oscar Wilde's story of a fashionable young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty is the author's most popular work. The tale of Dorian Gray 's moral disintegration caused a scandal when it first appeared in 1890, but though Wilde was attacked for the novel's corrupting influence, he responded that there is, in fact, "a terrible moral in Dorian Gray ." Just a few years later, the book and the aesthetic/moral dilemma it presented became issues in the trials occasioned by Wilde's homosexual liaisons, which resulted in his imprisonment.

The timeless story of the beatific Dorian Gray, who never seems to age, and whose features never show the stains of life, no matter how debauched his existence becomes. What is is his secret? And what is the secret of a certain portrait that he keeps forever hidden, behind a curtain, in a locked...

A gothic melodrama full of subtle impression and epigram, which tells a story about moral corruption. The Picture of Dorian Gray touches on many of Wilde's recurring themes, such as the nature and spirit of art, aestheticism and the dangers inherent to it.

The Picture of Dorian Gray, first published in 1890, is still one of the most riveting novels ever written. The genius plot has everything to capture and hold the imagination, from lust, debauchery, and doomed romance though blackmail, murder, and the disastrous effect of a morally depraved French novel. That’s not even counting the visits to the opium den, the addiction, the stalking, or the string of deaths - accidental or self-inflicted.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a novel which shocks us still. The sensibilities of its original Victorian readership may have blanched at the exoticism and barely disguised eroticism which drip from Wilde’s prose, but for us today who barely look twice at such things, we find something much more horrific at the heart of the book.
