Doch als die Nazis an die Macht kommen und die junge Jüdin Gudrun Samuel sich entscheidet, mit gefälschten Papieren Deutschland zu verlassen, wird sie gefasst und kommt in Gestapo-Haft. Ihr gelingt die Flucht, aber sie ist nun nicht mehr das Mainzer Mädchen Gudrun, sondern die flüchtende Judy.
