Wendy Thorup bor på Lindehøj Stutteri og Ridecenter, som hendes forældre ejer i udkanten af Ansbøl. Wendy har netop kvalificeret sig til et stort militarystævne sammen med sin hvide hoppe Penny. Alt ser ud til at gå, som det skal, lige indtil en voldsom storm rammer Lindehøj og raserer gården og sårer flere af hestene, heriblandt Joy. Værst går det dog ud over Wendys elskede bedstemor, som bliver begravet under en sammenstyrtet bygning, og hun ligger nu i koma. Det rygtes snart, at Lindehøj er i krise, og kunderne begynder at svigte.
