A young man fleeing his violent outlaw past in Texas rides into Rainy Flats, Montana, looking for a new life. He changes his name to Abraham Littleton and slowly eases into a new way of life. Then the Renit Gang rides into town. The Renits kidnap the town’s favorite lady and shoot the lawman. Threatening his friends and everything he has slowly worked to build, Littleton is being forced to take a stand and reveal his old self to the town.

There was once a man who chose to confront his demons. Not the demons we speak of today - you know, merely used as metaphor and symbolism for our personal struggles - but real demons: short little things with small horns, beady eyes, and the worst trait of all - a bad attitude. The author downloaded the recording and text from the Library of Congress of interviews with X-Slaves before they died. Every line spoken by the fictitious character, Jonah Godfreed, is a direct quote from those interviews. Therefore, when you read and/or listen to this chapter, the real authors of Jonah Godfreed’s statements, the collection of thoughts and experiences of people who have long ago left us, will live again in your mind.
