Im Berliner Zoo ist seit neuestem nachts die Hölle los: Mysteriöse Eindringlinge treiben die Tiere in den Wahnsinn. Löwe Kunze vermisst seine Mähne, Elefant Heiner seine Stoßzähne, und einer der Flamingos ist gleich ganz verschwunden. Als dann auch noch Opa Reinhard die Flinte abgibt, weiß Erdmännchen-Detektiv Ray: So geht es nicht weiter!

Rien ne va plus, Madame! Keine gute Stimmung im Erdmännchen-Bau: Roxy fühlt sich unterfordert, Rocky versteht die Welt nicht mehr, Häsin Grete braucht bitte mehr Me-Time, und Natalie möchte erst mal keinen Nachwuchs mit Ray. In all diese Beziehungs- und Sinnkrisen platzt ein Anruf von Interpol, und wenig später sind Phil, Rufus und Ray unterwegs zu den Reichen und Schönen an die Côte d’Azur. Denn dort heiratet der Sohn einer zwielichtigen Investmentfonds-Größe eine Frau aus bestem Haus. Zu Gast sein wird auch »Samtpfote«, Kopf eines mexikanischen Drogenimperiums.

Dem Erdmännchenclan - allen voran Rufus & Ray - gelingt in Band 6 gerade noch rechtzeitig die Flucht aus dem Berliner Zoo in ein vermeintlich idyllisches Waldstück, wo die Großstädter erstmal ordentlich für (Ver)Stimmung sorgen. So kann es gehen: Der Berliner Zoo braucht Geld, und Zoochef Windhoeck verhökert kurzerhand den Clan der beliebten Erdmännchen an ein Gartencenter im eiskalten Oslo. In letzter Sekunde gelingt dank Ray und Rufus die Flucht.

Endlich Frühling im Berliner Zoo, endlich raus ins Freigehege. Mit dem ersten Sonnenstrahl haben die Erdmännchen Ray und Rufus eine neue Auftraggeberin: Angel Eyes, eine nicht mehr ganz junge Rassestute, bittet Ray, den Tod ihres Geliebten Stardust zu untersuchen, der beim Eröffnungsrennen in Berlin-Hoppegarten gestürzt ist. Angel Eyes ist sich sicher: Der Sturz hatte keine natürliche Ursache. Und tatsächlich: Ray, Rufus und Privatermittler Phil kommen einem üblen Komplott auf die Spur.

Rufus und Ray sehen den Wald vor lauter Bären nicht. Dass die neuen Chefs im Wald plötzlich die Erdmännchen sind, ist zwar für Rufus und Ray famos, passt aber nicht allen. Unter dem Laubdach brodelt es gehörig. "Dann macht doch Demokratie", schlägt Rufus vor und stößt bei den Waldbewohnern auf sehr viel offenere Ohren als erwartet. Tatsächlich sieht es mit Feldhäsin Grete als erster Präsidentin für eine Weile so aus, als könnte sich alles zum Guten und Schönen und Friedlichen fügen. Doch dann taucht eine Haussau samt Ferkelchen auf und fragt nach Keiler Herrmann.

Back to the roots: Rufus' und Rays Ermittlerkünste sind wieder gefragt! An Bord des Kreuzfahrtschiffes "Golden Silverstar" sollen die Erdmännchen-Spürnasen mit ihrem früheren Kompagnon Phil einer Bande auf die Spur kommen, dem berüchtigten Ocean’s Club. Unter dem Künstlernamen "Phil & Friends" werden Rufus und Ray zur größten Entertainment-Attraktion an Bord und ermitteln nebenher undercover. Doch ihre Gegner sind gewieft. Am Ende müssen Phil & Friends Kopf und Pelz riskieren, um das Geheimnis des Ocean's Club zu lüften.
