Maxwell Morgan has always been a very practical guy. He started working at age fifteen because his foster family was stretched thin. He joined the army right out of high school to earn money for college. Even after getting his first job after college, he kept working the three jobs that let him get there—National Guard infantryman, farmer, and blacksmith. About nine months into his new job as an HR Generalist, Max’s boss arranged a one-week team-building event for the team. In September 2019, Max Morgan boarded a vintage Beech Twin aircraft with the five ladies from his office and the three-person flight crew for a flight to Sheridan, Wyoming. Max’s boss had scheduled a team-building exercise for survival training, so they had bags packed with camping gear, firearms, and ammunition. Then the aircraft hit a mysterious vortex in the air that pulled them inexorably toward the west at a dizzying speed. That vortex dumped their aircraft back in time in northern Germany 1,700 years earlier.

For many years, Max Porter and his team have been caught between Mother Hope and Grandma Mobley, two witches that hated each other for over a century. Both witches hold power and both are dangerous. But now, their hatred has finally boiled over, and that power is about to be unleashed. Now, Max finds himself the rope in a tug-o-war that threatens to destroy his budding family, if not all of North Carolina.
