I was a sugarbaby, I admit. I am not proud of it, though others seem to sensationalize the lifestyle. They see glitz and glamor, never food or a place to sleep. Film and literature have only shown one side of a sugarbaby’s life. They villainize us and make us out to be either sluts or golddiggers or airheads. And well, they’re right. I am no saint. I am a whore — a selfish, greedy, ageist whore who is worth nothing except in bed. Life was no fairytale as a sugarbaby. But it was one grotesque, unlawful act after another. Yet somehow, that life pales in comparison to my life as a Minor.

Since before the dawn of humankind, the genders have complemented and supported each other. Central to that has always been the primal desire of men for women. But what happens if that primal desire were to change. What if men no longer desired women, but focused their energies on themselves and their own interests. What would happen to civilization? What would it mean for relations between the sexes? What could even cause such a thing, and can it be stopped before it is too late?

Whenever we envision a world without war, without prisons, without capitalism, we are producing speculative fiction. Organizers and activists envision and try to create such worlds all the time. Walidah Imarisha and adrienne maree brown have brought 20 of them together in the first anthology of short stories to explore the connections between radical speculative fiction and movements for social change.

By the time Phil Chase is elected president, the world's climate is far on its way to irreversible change. Food scarcity, housing shortages, diminishing medical care, and vanishing species are just some of the consequences. The erratic winter the Washington, D.C., area is experiencing is another grim reminder of a global weather pattern gone haywire: bone-chilling cold one day, balmy weather the next. BONUS AUDIO: Includes an exclusive introduction by author Kim Stanley Robinson.

Lucien Bandemyr, Crown Prince of the Qorathi Empire, looked forward to adventure, excitement, and glory from his first campaign outside of the Empire's star systems.
