Spain, 2020. Es gelingt ihm nicht nur das eigene, sondern auch das Leben eines Knaben zu retten, dessen Herkunft für Shatterhand wenig später zu einer echten Überraschung wird. Vom Pueblo der Apachen bricht er mit Winnetou auf zu Old Firehands "Festung", erlebt auf halbem Weg dorthin einen Überfall der Poncas auf Fort Niobrara, angeführt von Parranoh, dem weißen Häuptling, dem Todfeind Winnetous und Old Firehands.

Winnetou 3: "Der Berg des Todes". Nach längerem Aufenthalt in Europa kehrt Old Shatterhand in den Wilden Westen zurück, dort will er seinen Blutsbruder Winnetou treffen. Beiden Freunden bleibt nicht viel Zeit, friedliche Tage in der Heimat der Apachen zu verbringen. Es gilt, eine Bahnstation vor einem Überfall zu retten und die von den Ogellallahs verschleppten Bewohner der Helldorf-Siedlung vor dem drohenden Tode zu bewahren. Das Abseilen in den Krater eines erloschenen Vulkans ist der einzige Weg zur Befreiung der Gefangenen, ein Weg des Todes.
