From the makers of the award winning TV series comes a new story following the women inmates of Wentworth Correctional Facility.

Maddie, Scarlett and Anna are three 18-year-olds on the threshold of the rest of their lives. Or they will be, once they finish serving their sentences at  Mockridge Juvenile Centre. With release dates fast approaching, the girls are out of chances - one more altercation with the law and it’s adult prison.

Forensic psychologist and former Wentworth staffer Bridget Westfall sees an opportunity to make a true and lasting change through the introduction of the ‘RAFT’ anti-recidivism program at Mockridge. Designed to allow juvenile offenders to experience adult prison under controlled conditions, in order to discourage them from reoffending, the three teen girls enter Wentworth Correctional Facility under Bridget’s watch. Forty-eight hours later, only two come out alive.

As tensions erupt into bloodshed, and loyalties are tested and corrupted, Bridget works to investigate the explosive series of events – and races against time to uncover the truth as to who’s responsible for the death of the young inmate and to ultimately prevent the past from repeating itself.

Written by Clare Sladden, James Vinson, Hannah Samuel. Directed by Claudia Pickering. Produced by FremantleMedia Australia.

Performed by Libby Tanner, Kate Jenkinson, Bernard Curry, Contessa, Sophia Forrest, Miah Madden, Shari Sebbens, Rachael Tidd, and Jake Speer.

Excellent

There’s nothing to fault about this production: the story, the performances are all flawless. As a fan of the TV show I really enjoyed this whole story, which draws you in immediately yet keeps you guessing until the end. If you’re looking for something to tide you over in between seasons of Wentworth, this will do the job nicely. I’ve read that sadly, wentworth won’t be continuing much longer, but I think it would be a great idea to produce more audio stories like this.

Gripping and gut wrenching

Fantastic performances all round, especially Libby Tanner, great to have Bridget Westfall back. Ruined me a little, in true Wentworth style! Hoping for more of these.

Not an easy listen.

Well-performed by some of the original cast. Be aware that this contains material that some listeners may find disturbing or triggering. I struggled a bit at times.

On an unrelated note: Westfall’s unprofessional behaviour is a bit unconvincing!

More like this - perhaps a less darker topic- would be great!

Incredible quality production

Fantastic quality production, story and performance.

Be aware, this is set *after* the conclusion of the Wentworth TV series, and there is one significant late-season spoiler included within the first episode.

I have watched 6 of 8 seasons of the TV series, and this audio series is very much in keeping with the quality and entertainment value of the show. The carry over of three key characters helps connect this series to the TV series wonderfully.

One caveat is that, like the TV series, but perhaps even more so, the story is grimdark horrible and much of the audio includes the characters expressing extreme anger, fear and anguish. This can be tough to listen to, and I would avoid listening to this if desiring any kind of uplift or de-stressing activity. If you are in the mood for something gritty, authentic and hard-hitting, this is a great choice.

Incredible listening

OMG this is so good.. Libby Tanner gives an outstanding performance as always, captivating the listeners from start to finish. Very easy listening and I didn't want it to end.
My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. I wish there was more than 8 episodes, 4hrs is just a warm up.
Fantastic job and congratulations to all the cast and writers on a wonderful podcast series. I really hope there will be some more.

Superb handling of a very difficult subject

Firstly, thank you to the producers of this drama for the well placed and appropriate warnings about triggering content. This is often not done well or at all and can have unexpectedly devastating consequences.

This drama. Well....

As a survivor myself there was a lot here which was retraumatising to listen to. However, I chose to keep listening because of the sensitive and accurate way the subject of child abuse and its horrendous, lifelong effects was handled. Thank you to the writers and producers for having the courage to tackle this subject with such empathy and kindness.

Viewing the technical success of the drama, subject aside, is easy. I rarely give 5* reviews but this production was exceptional from beginning to end. Sound effects were minimal and aided the drama rather than hindering it. The script and dialogue was exceptional. The acting. My goodness the acting. My heart broke and I cried, the actresses giving a truly devastating but beautiful account of what it is like to go through and try to live with such trauma. The acting on the side of the professionals in the story was also outstanding.

I cannot fault this production in any way. Yes it is dark, raw, tragic and extremely hard to listen to in places. Yet it also shines a light on the subject and shows there is some hope even when it seems there can be none. All this is done without cliché or trite response.

Brilliant. Worthy of my rare 5* without a doubt.
