    This week Sandy and Chuck sat down with Joël Virgel Vierset. Joel is a French-Caribbean singer-songwriter, improvisational vocalist, percussionist, and actor whose eclectic career spans experimental music, film scores, commercial albums, live performance and avant-garde vocal expression. His vocal work often blends ambient textures, world music influences, invented languages and spontaneous emotional soundscapes. Over the years Joel has worked on many films and with multiple musicians and artists including: Hans Zimmer, Heitor Pereira, Benjamin Wallfisch, Patrick Doyle, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, 10,000BC, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Independence Day: Resurgence, The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean.

    Joel is also a long distance swimmer. He shares stories from his extraordinary open-water experiences — including swimming alongside dolphins & seals and encountering a killer whale during a Channel Islands swim. Joel also discusses the deep connection between swimming and music, he explains how he practices vocal tones while swimming and how he sees the ocean as a form of meditation and healing.
