Hard-boiled detective Richard D. Tective is at the end of his rope. Chased by demons and filled with booze, he ends up far away from the big city, landing in the small southern town he once called home. But this ain’t no vacation. In no time, Dick finds himself ankle-deep in murder most foul and a brand-new case involving noble families, high society, and even higher stakes.

Question: Do I need to listen to all of Noir City Blues first to understand what’s happening in this episode? Answer: On the contrary, several details in this loosey goosey “plot” outright contradict the earlier canon. We recommend you try not to think too much about the greater Noir City Universe, and instead enjoy slipping into a simpler time from long ago, when the fabulously wealthy controlled almost everything and were able to get away with whatever crimes they wanted.
