The earth had become corrupt. Violence filled the world, sin had infected mankind, and even humanity’s generations may have been under attack.

But one line remained.

Genesis 6:8–12 introduces Noah—a man who found favor with God, walked faithfully with Him, and was described as blameless among his generations. In this episode, we examine whether Noah’s blamelessness referred only to his character or also to the preservation of his family line in a world where humanity itself had become corrupted.

The flood was not simply the judgment of a sinful world. It was also the preservation of the promise. Through Noah’s lineage, the human family would survive, the seed of the woman would continue, and the road to Jesus Christ would remain open.

When corruption threatened to consume everything, grace preserved the line.

The earth remembered giants, warriors, and men whose names became legend. But heaven saw something beneath their strength.

Humanity had become corrupted from the inside out. Every intention of the heart bent toward evil, and the creation God once called good now brought sorrow to His heart. The world was unraveling, the waters of judgment were drawing near, and creation itself was about to be undone.

Before the rain fell, the first sign of the flood was not thunder.

It was the grief of God.

Before the waters rose, something dark crossed the boundary between heaven and earth.

Genesis 6 opens with one of the most mysterious passages in Scripture: “the sons of God” saw the daughters of man, took wives for themselves, and the world moved one step closer to judgment. This episode dives into the ancient view that these “sons of God” were angelic beings who rebelled against their proper place, bringing corruption into the human story before the Flood.

But even here, judgment does not fall without warning. God says His Spirit will not contend with man forever, and man’s days will be 120 years. The clock begins to tick. The ark has not yet been built, the rain has not yet fallen, but mercy is already giving time before the storm.
