• The Peebles Peeper
    Oct 16 2026

"Of all the frogs, the Spring Peeper -- a tiny tree frog an inch or less in length -- seems best able to free himself from the clutches of the cold...I have heard spring Peepers in January; and of course in March and April he welcomes in the springtime in full chorus even while the waters of the pond are still Icy so far as human reactions go. Perhaps cold-blooded animals do not actually feel the cold as do you and I."

  • The Horror at Hopetown
    Oct 2 2026

"Throughout the centuries, the Hopewell Earthworks have been largely ignored. Indians who encountered the earthworks 300 years ago did not know what they were. When the white settlers came in the 1800s, they looked at the earthworks in amazement, then plowed them under. Many now sit under fields, roadbeds, railroad tracks, buildings, and even old army barracks. Only a dozen or so in Ohio have been preserved."

  • A Tale of an Empty House
    Aug 7 2026

This story was originally published in 1925 in Hutchinson's Magazine. Written by E.F. Benson, the tale follows a businessman traveling along the southern coast of England. On his way to meet an acquaintance for a golf trip, he finds himself mesmerized by the strange beauty of a small coastal town. One that appears to contain tides that follow no logical pattern, and strange bird calls that conform to no known species.
