Tim and Bethany welcome guest Janel Boyd from Kernersville Little Theatre to talk about their upcoming production of The Great Gatsby. Janel explains who Kernersville Little Theatre is, where rehearsals and performances take place, and provides background on the straight-play adaptation by Simon Levy. She describes the 1920s costumes, the flapper styling, the men’s polo looks, and the photography that captures the period feel.

The conversation covers the cast, the production’s scale, and the story’s themes, including class division, social expectations, and the contrast between wealth and poverty. Janel talks about directing a large cast, her approach to character work, and how she balances honoring the original text with creative interpretation. If you haven’t heard a grown man get excited about a light fixture and a square bar with video cameras mounted on them, then you should listen to this episode. Thomas over at Strategic Electrical Solutions (who also did all the can and pen lights in the studio) installed an Aputure Lantern lighting fixture and then mounted the video cameras to the ceiling via a “rack” of pipe and rods. Somehow it works. Tim explained its first usage.

The director, the lead actor, and a new face. Bethany is out sick and a past guest, Leslie Craig (who is also the host of Mosaic of Music) stayed on after the recording session for MOM to guest co-host with Tim. They talk with Audrey Enghauser, the new Director of Marketing for The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem to talk about the upcoming production of Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors. Audrey brought the show’s director, Jason Roland, and the lead (Dracula), Brayden Daugherty. There is a lot of cool and lively talk about the production, the story, the goofiness, the sexiness, the risque, etc. Audrey hangs around with Tim after the actors had to go to rehearsal and discuss more about her to give you, the listners, more info about the new DoM for LTWS!
