• Experiencing Relationship Loss
    Oct 31 2026

Some losses don't come with funerals, sympathy cards, or the space to grieve openly. Sometimes, we lose a person who is still very much alive. A friend. A partner. Someone who once felt like home.

And somehow, we're expected to just move on.

But why does losing a relationship sometimes leave us feeling so disconnected, anxious, overwhelmed, or even like we've lost ourselves?

In this episode of The Indigo Lounge, we're exploring the often-overlooked grief of relationship loss, whether that means the end of a romantic relationship, a friendship, or a connection that once played an important role in our lives.

We'll talk about why these losses can affect us so deeply, how our nervous system responds when a familiar source of connection and safety disappears, and why healing isn't always as simple as deciding to let go.

We'll also explore how to begin rebuilding a sense of safety within ourselves, regulating our nervous system, processing the grief, and learning to move forward without dismissing what the relationship meant to us.

Because healing doesn't mean the person didn't matter. It doesn't mean you shouldn't miss them. And it certainly doesn't mean you have to pretend you're okay before you actually are.

Sometimes, healing begins when we stop asking ourselves why we can't just get over it and start understanding what we're actually grieving.

You are allowed to miss someone and still know that moving forward is what you need.

Welcome to The Indigo Lounge. A space for the conversations we don't always know how to have.

Come Back to Yourself: A Guided Grounding Meditation for Your Nervous System

Feeling overwhelmed, stuck in your thoughts, or disconnected from the present moment? Take a few minutes to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

In this guided grounding meditation, we’ll move through box breathing, gentle somatic awareness, and a five-senses grounding exercise to help you notice what’s happening in your body and reconnect with your surroundings. We’ll also explore the window of tolerance and how recognizing your nervous system’s responses can help you better understand what you need in moments of stress.

This practice isn’t about forcing yourself to feel calm or making uncomfortable emotions disappear. It’s about creating space to notice where you are, reconnect with the present, and meet yourself with a little more compassion.

Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or simply need a moment to slow down, this is your invitation to come back to yourself—one breath at a time.

Find a comfortable space, press play, and give yourself permission to be here.

You don't have to be completely okay to care for yourself.

Welcome to The Indigo Lounge. 💜

  • Public School vs. Homeschool Co-ops: Building Confident, Resilient Kids
    Jul 24 2026

What if the question isn't Which educational system is best? but rather, Which environment allows my child to thrive?

In this episode of The Indigo Lounge, Jessica Glynn, LMFT-A and Brainspotting practitioner, sits down with Jess Alfreds, the director of a local South Carolina homeschool co-op. They explore how different educational environments, where they are still learning core academic courses in math, language arts, history, science, etc- can shape children's emotional well-being, confidence, resilience, and overall development.

Together, they discuss why more families are exploring alternatives to traditional education, the role community plays in raising emotionally healthy children, and how parents can recognize when a different learning environment may better support their child's unique needs.

This conversation isn't about choosing sides between public schools and homeschooling. Instead, it's about understanding that every child learns differently and that the right environment can make a meaningful difference in both academic growth and emotional health.

Whether you're a parent considering new educational options, an educator, or simply interested in child development, this episode offers thoughtful insights into raising confident, resilient children in today's world.

Because sometimes, the greatest gift we can give our children isn't a perfect education—it's an environment where they feel safe enough to learn, grow, and become who they're meant to be.

  • The Children We Don't Save Become the Adults We Judge
    Jul 17 2026

Before every adult was judged for their choices, they were a child learning how to survive.

In this episode of The Indigo Lounge, Jessica Glynn, LMFT-A and Brainspotting practitioner, explores how childhood trauma shapes the developing brain, why survival responses often follow us into adulthood, and why understanding someone's past is not the same as excusing harmful behavior. Together, we'll discuss the power of attachment, nervous system development, neuroplasticity, and the profound impact that just one safe, caring adult can have on a child's future.

This conversation is an invitation to move beyond judgment and toward curiosity, compassion, and accountability—because healing doesn't erase the past; it changes what happens next.

  • Headlines & Healing: Can Someone Be Both a Victim and Responsible?
    Jul 9 2026

Headlines & Healing: Can Someone Be Both a Victim and Responsible?

In the first episode of Headlines & Healing, Jessica Glynn, LMFT-A and Brainspotting practitioner, explores one of psychology's most difficult questions: Can someone be both a victim and responsible for causing harm?

Using a recent national news story as a starting point—not to determine guilt or innocence, but to better understand the psychology behind severe abuse—Jessica examines how trauma shapes the brain, the nervous system, and human behavior. This episode discusses trauma bonding, coercive control, learned helplessness, isolation, generational trauma, and why leaving abusive environments is often far more complex than it appears from the outside.

Together, we'll explore how compassion and accountability can coexist, why healing is about more than escaping harmful circumstances, and what it truly takes to break cycles of abuse across generations.

In this episode, you'll learn about:

    • Why trauma changes the brain and nervous system

    • The psychology of trauma bonding and coercive control

    • Learned helplessness and the impact of prolonged abuse

    • How isolation reinforces abusive systems

    • The effects of childhood trauma on development

    • How generational trauma is transmitted—and interrupted

    • Why understanding someone's past doesn't negate the harm they may cause

Content Note: This episode discusses child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, trauma, and coercive control. Listener discretion is advised.

If this conversation resonates with you, please subscribe, leave a review, and share the episode with someone who may benefit from a deeper understanding of trauma and healing. Have a headline you'd like explored through the lens of psychology? I'd love to hear from you.
