  • Looking for a Church? Be Picky, Not Nitpicky
    Nov 4 2026

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN IT'S TIME TO FIND A NEW CHURCH?

Church hurt is real. Unhealthy leadership exists. But does that mean we should give up on church altogether?

In this episode of The Disciple Download, Kyle and Amanda get personal about their journey of leaving churches, searching for a healthy church home, and learning what truly matters in Christian community.

They discuss church hurt, spiritual discernment, pastoral accountability, serving without losing sight of your purpose, and why sometimes God closes a door because that season is simply over.

They also share how they finally found a church home where healthy leadership, grace, and accountability made a difference.

Remember: You don't need a perfect church. You need a healthy one.

    Be picky, not nitpicky.

  • Tell Him Where to Go
    Oct 21 2026

Are you giving the enemy more credit than he deserves? And how do you stand firm when temptation, frustration, and doubt keep coming?

In this episode of The Disciple Download, Kyle and Amanda have an honest conversation about spiritual warfare, resisting temptation, and the daily battle between the flesh and the Spirit. After a difficult week, Kyle opens up about feeling overwhelmed, questioning his calling, and learning to surrender his vision for the podcast to God’s provision.

Looking at Jesus’ temptation in Matthew 4 and Luke 4, we discuss how Jesus responded with Scripture—and a detail that’s easy to overlook: the devil departed “until an opportune time.” Resisting temptation once doesn’t mean you’ll never face it again. Staying rooted in God’s Word matters every day.

From recognizing the enemy’s lies to learning our Father’s voice, this conversation points us back to knowing Scripture, finding our identity in Christ, and following Jesus through the struggle.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Spiritual warfare and why every struggle isn’t necessarily a direct attack from Satan.
    • The ongoing battle between our flesh and the Spirit.
    • How Jesus used Scripture to respond to temptation.
    • Why we need to test what we hear against God’s Word.
    • Recognizing God’s voice through a growing relationship with Him.
    • Surrendering our plans and trusting God with the outcome.
    • Why discipleship is a lifestyle—not a season.
    • Continuing to serve God when we feel discouraged or unqualified.

We’re sharing our struggles, what we’re learning, and how God continues to shape us as disciples. If you’ve been fighting temptation, wrestling with doubt, or feeling worn down, we hope this episode encourages you to stay in the Word and keep your eyes on Jesus.

    Scripture referenced:
    Matthew 4:1–11
    Luke 4:12–13
    Luke 22:3–6
    Matthew 28:18–19

  • Hummingbirds vs. Buzzards
    Oct 7 2026

Are you looking for what’s wrong—or are you looking for what gives life?
A buzzard and a hummingbird can fly over the exact same landscape and see two completely different worlds. The buzzard searches for what is dead and decaying. The hummingbird searches for what is living and sweet.
The question is: Which one are we becoming?
In this episode of The Disciple Download, Kyle and Amanda Bryant continue the conversation around conflict, correction, and division within the Church—but this time, the conversation goes deeper.
After receiving criticism from a previous episode, Kyle shares why he chose to respond instead of react and why sometimes the most Christlike response is silence. From there, they examine what Scripture actually teaches about correcting another believer, handling disagreement, confronting sin, and guarding ourselves against an “exposure culture” that can look a lot like the cancel culture Christians often criticize.
Because biblical correction isn't about embarrassing someone, proving you're right, or winning an argument.
    It's about restoration.
Paul repeatedly tells believers to correct with gentleness—and that isn't accidental. Jesus Himself said, “I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Biblical correction isn't simply about saying the right thing. It's about becoming more like the One we're representing.
And that leads to the challenge at the heart of this episode:
Be a hummingbird, not a buzzard.
When you're scrolling through social media, listening to sermons, watching clips, or interacting with other believers, are you constantly searching for something dead to pick apart? Or are you looking for something that gives life?
We may be part of the same body, but a healthy body doesn't attack an injured part—it works to restore it.
Before correcting everyone else, maybe we need to ask:
Does the way I'm doing this look like Jesus?
    In This Episode
    • Responding vs. reacting to criticism
    • Why silence can sometimes be the right response
    • The biblical process for correcting another believer
    • Matthew 18 and handling conflict within the Church
    • The difference between biblical correction and exposure culture
    • Why Christians should correct with gentleness
    • How godless chatter and division affect our spiritual lives
    • Being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger
    • The danger of forming opinions from short social-media clips
    • Testing everything—and testing ourselves—against Scripture
    • Why context matters when interpreting Scripture and people
    • The hummingbird vs. buzzard analogy
    • Looking for life instead of constantly searching for decay
    • Why our spiritual environment matters
    • Restoring hurting members of the Body of Christ instead of attacking them
    • Remembering that we may be the only “Bible” someone ever reads

    The Challenge
This week, pay attention to what you're searching for.
When you scroll through social media…
When you hear another Christian speak…
When you encounter someone you disagree with…
Are you looking for decay—or are you looking for life?
You don't have to ignore error. You don't have to compromise truth. But how we communicate truth matters.
    Correct with gentleness.
    Seek restoration.
    Test everything against the Word.
And above all, ask whether the way you're responding looks like Jesus.
Be a hummingbird, not a buzzard.
