  • Why Is Modern Architecture So Boring? Thomas Heatherwick Is An Odd Fellow Indeed, (Part 2 of 2)
    Sep 30 2026

It's grey, it's ugly, we don't know which is worse! We might just roll our eyes--and if we don't, we'll laugh at first! For anyone who caught that reference, you would benefit from looking into the works of "Screamin' Jay Hawkins." Meanwhile, we can't even be bothered to look up at our city skylines for what they are, given how little effort the designers seemed to put into them. WHY is Thomas Heatherwick so darn hard to place? Is he a fraud, ladies and gentlemen? WHY has history directed our buildings in this direction? WHAT can the average Sal, Sue, and Mavis do to solve this problem on a local, perhaps even state, level? And

Are the communists involved? Or, say...the Canadians?

No, of course not, and that's your reminder not to be prejudiced. But they did coin a little term known as American Exceptionalism (the communists, not the Canadians) which essentially means, you look as good as you feel. If you feel great, your buildings will match that. But if you're a good fifty pounds overweight with a bald spot, a mole on your eyebrow, and you have money (and love to make more of it!) then you may neglect your health. We are what we eat just as we are what we see.

  • Why Is Modern Architecture So Boring? An Investigation In American Exceptionalism (Part 1 of 2)
    Sep 19 2026

  • Stranger Things Have Happened - The Inevitable Review
    Feb 3 2026

It was bound to happen sooner or later. For a long time we've put off reviews (all the good stuff is rated R or NR, let's not pretend it isn't) but seeing as Stranger Things Season Five is over and done, we might as well discuss all the nonsense that's happened in Hawkins, Indiana over the last ten years. Chase is over the moon the whole time while Blake...well, you'll hear from him.

In addition: CONFORMITY GATE! Because every conspiracy since Nixon needs to have "gate" in the title somewhere; Blake and Chase discuss said theories (in which the former does so with full abrasion). Has anyone seen Pierrot Le Fou? Anyone? Anyone?! We forget if the guy blows himself up in the end in the book.

Seeing as Stranger Things was wannabe horror without being about horror at all (as many PG-13 80s works were) the [BRIEF] topic of what medics and scientists have referred to as Total Facial Avulsion, according to the Web. Putting it bluntly, Blake floats the suggestion that the Demogorgons are probably sliding faces off like banana peels! He doesn't go into much detail--we have Chase to thank for that--but it's just a delicate warning, Horace. Listen Now!
