Ask Yourselves and the Lord

• What Do I Believe? - The Happiness Lie (I begin believing that what somebody else has will finally make me happy.)
• How Do I See Others? - The Comparison Syndrome (I begin measuring my worth and success against somebody else’s life.)
• Who Am I Becoming? - The Reflection Rule (I allow jealousy and insecurity to shape my character, my words, and my relationships.
• God doesn’t leave us the way He found us! Lord, don’t just change what I have. Change who I’m becoming!

Big Idea: James 3 reminds us that our words are never just words. They have the power to steer the direction of our home, to start fires or put them out, to wound or to heal, to create distance or create connection. And here’s the question we have to ask: What kind of atmosphere are my words creating under my roof? Our homes become healthy when we allow God to change what’s happening in our hearts, so that something different can flow from our mouths! Change the words, shift the atmosphere.

Big Idea:

Kids are a blessing from the Lord, entrusted to us to steward. As parents, it’s our job to grow their faith by both raising them in a Christ-like community and showing them Christ-like behavior in the home. Raising them in a way that, when we release them, we are confident in the direction we guided them, giving them space to become their own person while being available to speak up and speak into their lives when needed.
