In November 2017, 24-year-old Sydney Loofe left work in Lincoln, Nebraska, for a second date with a woman she’d met on Tinder. She never came home. The woman she knew as “Audrey” was Bailey Boswell, who lived with her boyfriend, 51-year-old Aubrey Trail, a longtime con man. The investigation that followed uncovered a gold coin fraud scheme, a pattern of control over other young women, and Aubrey’s claims of supernatural powers.

Kate is joined by Brian Biegel, director and executive producer of Hulu’s three-part docuseries Swipe Right on the Devil, and executive producer Christopher St. John of Imagine Documentaries.

Producer Aliza Rosen joins Kate to discuss You Can See Everything, the documentary from Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim that follows Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, in the weeks before she reports to prison. They also discuss Aliza’s new investigative podcast, The Gilded Rage, hosted by Lauren Malloy. The series begins with a woman’s allegation of a decades-old sexual assault and leads to unanswered questions surrounding the 1985 death of Sherri Clark, an 18-year-old University of Colorado Boulder freshman whose death was ruled an accident. Aliza explains how the investigation came together and why Sherri’s family continues to seek answers more than 40 years later.
