Something changes when a teaching doesn’t just inspire you, it explains the world. We talk with Minister Kevin Ali about the exact moment his curiosity turned into a lifelong Nation of Islam journey, starting with hearing the teachings in 1987 and learning directly from experienced pioneers who carried the legacy of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Along the way we get specific about how mentorship works, how study becomes lifestyle, and why discipline is not a side detail but the engine that keeps everything moving.

We also go deep on one of the most searched and most misunderstood parts of the process: the Dear Savior letter. Kevin Ali breaks down why that letter is more than a form, calling it a written contract that ends an old identity and begins a new one, including the request for an original name. If you’ve ever wondered what it means to become a registered Muslim in the Nation of Islam, or why followers treat that step as a spiritual birth certificate, this conversation spells it out in plain language with lived experience behind it.

From there we move into real-world practice: selling The Final Call newspaper, learning how to connect without watering down the message, and what Fruit of Islam training represents beyond security and drills. We also cover social realities, from family reactions to unexpectedly respectful moments at a predominantly white high school reunion, plus the long-game sacrifices of time, isolation, and balance while keeping jobs and families steady.

If this gave you something to think about, subscribe so you don’t miss part two, share this with someone who asks serious questions about faith and identity, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway.

Hoodoo gets treated like a scary rumor or a social media aesthetic, but we wanted a real conversation about what it is and where it comes from. I’m joined by Intentionally Divine, who breaks Hoodoo down as a cultural inheritance from Black American ancestors in the Deep South, shaped by slavery, survival, and the need to heal and protect ourselves when the system offered nothing. We talk about why that history still matters today, especially for anyone searching for ancestral spirituality, rootwork, or African American folk magic with context and respect.

We also get personal about the path into the work. She shares how a Southern Baptist foundation and a COVID-era spiritual shift pushed her into deeper study, meditation, and connection with ancestors, even without elders teaching her directly. We unpack the family pushback many people recognize: candles blown out, divination labeled “devil worship,” and the slow process of rebuilding understanding. Then we move into practical ground, including ancestor altars, cleansing baths, protection work, brick dust at the threshold, Florida Water, and why prayer and Psalms are so central in Hoodoo practice.

You’ll hear us compare Hoodoo and Vodou, talk about saints and spirit allies like Saint Expedite and Archangel Michael, and get into candle magic basics like oils, color meanings, and setting clear intention. We also go straight at the hard questions: love spells, consent, spiritual ethics, and why some work can backfire when it’s rooted in control instead of truth. If you’ve been curious but cautious, this is a strong starting point. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review with the biggest question you still have.

Ancient Egypt gets flattened into slogans all the time, so we wanted to slow down and rebuild the picture from the ground up. We’re joined by Mauryell Smith-El to talk through Egypt as a Nile Valley civilization shaped by Upper and Lower Egypt, regional trade routes, and constant contact with Nubia, Northwest Africa, and the Levant. Instead of treating identity as a modern checklist, we dig into how politics, culture, and religion form through unification, local cult centers, and the rise of larger mythic systems.

We also get into the Hyksos question and why the claim “Hyksos were Jews” often traces back to later historiography. From Bronze Age collapse to Iron Age kingdoms, we connect migration patterns, archaeology, and the way biblical timelines are debated in public. Along the way, we talk Egypt’s role as an agricultural powerhouse, why surplus storage looks like an early banking system, and how conflicts like the Battle of Kadesh ripple into long-term regional change.

Then we turn to European intervention across time: Greece and Rome in antiquity, and France and Britain in the modern era as Egyptology grows alongside scientific racism. We unpack how “race” hardens into a tool of power, why some famous depictions are redrawings that bleach the record, and how shifting trade from trans-Saharan networks to transatlantic extraction destabilizes Africa. If you care about ancient Egypt history, Mediterranean civilization, the origins of race thinking, or how narratives get engineered, this one will give you better questions to carry forward.
