  • Building a Legacy That Starts at Home with Kent Evans
    Sep 11 2026

What does it really mean to build a legacy that lasts?

In this episode of the Legacy Builders Podcast, Kyle sits down with Kent Evans—author, speaker, Executive Director of Manhood Journey, and father of five—for an honest conversation about faith, fatherhood, leadership, and calling.

Kent shares why our greatest impact often begins at home, how to pursue meaningful work without sacrificing the relationships that matter most, and why Scripture should shape the way we lead, parent, and live. They also explore ambition, discovering God’s calling, learning through failure, and the simple but powerful practice Kent believes can transform our relationships and leadership: asking better questions.

This conversation is a reminder that true legacy isn’t simply what we accomplish—it’s how faithfully we love, lead, and walk in the work God has placed before us.

  • Swing, Miss, Adjust: UWF President Manny Diaz Jr. on Leadership and Growth
    Aug 28 2026

What does it take to lead through change, build momentum, and leave an organization better than you found it?

On this episode of Legacy Builders with Kyle McGee, Kyle sits down with Manny Diaz Jr., President of the University of West Florida, for a conversation about leadership, failure, opportunity, and building for the future.

Manny’s career has taken him from the classroom and baseball field to the Florida Legislature, the role of Florida Commissioner of Education, and now the president’s office at UWF. Along the way, he’s learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about listening, adapting, empowering the right people, and having the courage to act.

Kyle and Manny discuss lessons learned from early leadership failures, why the best way to prepare for your next opportunity is to excel where you are today, creating a culture of urgency, the future of higher education in an age of rapid technological change, and Manny’s vision for UWF as a catalyst for the continued growth of Northwest Florida.

They also dive into UWF’s move to Division I athletics, the university’s growing investment in research and workforce development, and why Manny believes legacy ultimately comes down to creating opportunities for the people who come after you.

For Manny, the challenge for the next generation is simple: stop comparing yourself to everyone else and focus on becoming the best version of yourself.

Tune in for a conversation about leadership, growth, education, and what it means to truly build a legacy.

  • The People Business: How BZI Built a Culture That Scales with Thomas Harker
    Aug 7 2026

What does it take to build a company capable of scaling from a handful of farmhands to more than 1,100 employees working on some of the largest projects in the country?

In this episode of the Legacy Builders with Kyle McGee Podcast, Kyle McGee sits down with Thomas Harker, President of BZI, to talk about the culture, leadership, innovation, and long-term thinking behind BZI’s remarkable growth.

Thomas shares how BZI evolved from a small construction company founded in 2006 into a major player in the steel construction industry—and why, despite that growth, he believes BZI isn't really in the steel business. It's in the people business.

They dive into BZI’s philosophy of putting culture before growth and the company’s willingness to make significant investments in its people. New team members are flown to Utah for two weeks of paid training before ever stepping onto a job site, representing an investment of nearly $10,000 per person. For Thomas, the question isn’t simply, “What if they leave?” It’s also: "What becomes possible if they stay?"

Kyle and Thomas also discuss one of the hardest transitions for any entrepreneur: realizing that being indispensable can actually make you the bottleneck.

Thomas explains how he went from being the project manager, superintendent, foreman, equipment operator, and problem solver to intentionally building systems and developing leaders who could replace him. Today, that philosophy extends throughout BZI, where leaders are challenged to “replace themselves twice.”

Throughout the conversation, Thomas returns to one central idea: play the long game.

Build people. Build trust. Take action. Solve problems. Invest for decades instead of optimizing only for the next project. And remember that what you become along the way may ultimately matter more than what you build.

If you're building a company you want to last for generations, this conversation is a reminder that the greatest legacy may not be the projects you complete or the revenue you generate—it may be the people you develop and the impact you leave behind.
