A mature politician speaks.

Nice to hear to hear a strong, reasonable and experienced politician express his views.

An important discussion about British agriculture

As usual, a fantastic interview with a very knowledgeable guest. As the leader of the National Farmers Union her position on some environmental topics was unsurprising and could've been probed a bit more.

What I did think was a bit off was the very personal questions Rory and Alastair asked at the beginning of the interview. It seemed unnecessarily cruel to dredge up some clearly painful aspects of her life and didn't contribute to the overall discussion about farming.

Art and life

A wonderful talk with Anthony Gormley. I met him in Rome yeats ago (I am an archaeologist) and his immersion in human presence in areas such as cave art were fascinating. The need to register a presence, to affirm existence, chimes with so much of the past and present. The massacre of art colleges in the UK challenges the ability to develop this into the future. Such a short sighted approach. Gormley brings alive the need for life to be art and vica versa.

Awesome

Leading is almost always well worth a listen, but Prof Sapolsky is a revelation - entertaining, eye-opening and intellectually fearless

A very timid episode

What a shame. I was really looking forward to these two episodes as there's definitely stuff worth hearing about. Unfortunately, the whole thing was attenuated by the fact that she's a sitting MP seeking re-election. Yes, she was serious, caring and pragmatic, but for the purposes of the podcast, we wanted to scratch beneath the surface. That never happened unfortunately. She's likely heading to being a backbench opposition MP for 5-10 years which will be a shame and a waste. Time to step away from the Conservatives while they swing to the right and join an organisation where she can do lots of good. At that point, when the shackles are off, get her back and get the real inside story.

Career Change for Campbell?!!

Is Alastair hoping for a journalistic post with the Sun?

In view of the comment that Leading is often stated to be a politically focused podcast, why did Alastair, in the followup chat, regret not pushing Arnie into revealing details about his past private life?

Such questions are not necessary.
