  • It Claps! James Gets Real About Loose Skin, Food Noise and Finding His People
    Oct 12 2026

If you’ve ever trained at KLT Fit, you know James. He’s the one handing out high fives, sneaking in dance breaks, and cheering everyone through those last ten seconds. This week he sits down with Kate and Josh to share the story behind all that energy. After 44 years of carrying extra weight, James lost 160 pounds, and he’s honest that keeping it off had far less to do with keto than with the mental health work that came after. He opens up about hiding food at family gatherings, rewriting the voices he carried from childhood, living with food noise, quitting smoking, and the friendships he lost and found when his life changed. He also talks candidly about the skin removal surgery he waited two years to book because he worried people would see it as the easy way out. Along the way he shares how his faith keeps him grounded, why a little kindness toward a struggling cashier matters more than you think, and the advice he’d give anyone starting out: find a community that lifts you up.

  • 150lbs of choose your pain
    Sep 29 2026

Josh stacks 150 pounds of gym equipment on the table, one dumbbell, plate, and kettlebell at a time, to show exactly what Kate used to carry around every single day. From there, Kate and Josh get honest about pain: the foot pain that orthotics couldn't fix, the back pain that kept Josh home from work, and the fear that keeps so many people on the couch when movement is exactly what would help. Josh puts on his mental health hat to explain why our brains learn to treat all pain as a warning, while Kate shares how she modifies movements in studio so members with sore knees, backs, and shoulders can keep training instead of quitting. It's a candid conversation about choosing your hard, why stopping is the worst thing you can do, and the members who inspire them by showing up anyway. And yes, Josh cries. Blame James.

  • Your Body Isn't Broken, Your Timeline Is
    Sep 14 2026

Kate and Josh are back after a few weeks away, fresh off KLT Fit's first crack at a doubles Hyrox sim, and this one turned into a bit of a friendly tug of war. First up, 14 rapid fire questions with very quick answers and very quick reasons why. Strength or cardio. Lift heavier or more reps. Build muscle or lose fat first. Rest day or active recovery. Some answers line up, some absolutely do not, and Josh gets called out more than once for sitting on the fence.

Then things shift into the heavier topic: six weeks versus six months. Why we consistently overestimate what our bodies can do in six weeks and badly underestimate what six months of showing up can change. Josh digs into the mindset trap behind short term goals and the social media culture feeding it, while Kate breaks down what is actually happening in your body during those first six weeks and why that is when most people quit. They also walk through the Diabetes Prevention Program research, where a 7% weight loss over 24 weeks cut diabetes risk by more than half and was still doing good work 15 years later.

If you have ever thrown in the towel at week six because the scale did not cooperate, this one is for you.
