In this episode, Mackenzie takes a look into prayer- but more specifically, whose will has ultimate authority concerning our prayers? What’s more biblical, prayers of petitions to God, or making declarations according to our own will? How did Jesus pray? Why do Charismatic prayers sound like the same philosophical reasoning of the occult? Mackenzie explores these topics and questions without apology to get to the truth of how we are to pray.

Hi, I'm Mackenzie. I'm a music artist, worship leader, wife, mom (I wear a lot of hats), and host of the Godly Whistleblower podcast. I seek to shine a light on popular teachings and music in the church today and share what Scripture teaches on how we are to worship in spirit and in truth within the church gathering. My desire is to learn together with my listeners how Christians are to live lives ultimately as a pleasing worship to God.

In this episode, Mackenzie reviews the contemporary worship song “The Blessing” by Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. This song is said to be straight up scripture. But is it often used with a different meaning than the text teaches? Whats the true focal point of this blessing according to scripture? Does that focal point find itself in the song? Mackenzie dives into these questions and more.

In this episode, Mackenzie provides fair definitions to both the Normative Principle of worship and the Regulative Principle. What are these principles, and are there misconceptions about each of them? Does the Normative Principle teach that “anything goes”? Does the Regulative Principle suggest ridged and stuffy worship? Mackenzie gives clarity to these principles as well as how we can have the right approach and mindset when approaching this subject matter.
