Letters to Auntie Fori by Martin Gilbert

Today we discuss the introduction to this book, which explains how Martin Gilbert met Auntie Fori, as well as his first three letters to her, detailing creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah. We get a review of the biblical account as well as some extra-biblical Jewish tradition in these opening pages.

Next week we will cover letters 4-7.

Letters to Auntie Fori by Martin Gilbert

Modern pop culture is divided on the issue of the Jews being God’s chosen people, but God’s Word is clear. Today we revisit the history of God’s promises to Abraham, the miraculous birth of Isaac, and the descendants and a name change that brings about the formation of the people of Israel—the same people who are in the land of Israel today.

Next week we will cover letters 8-10.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk

Sleep is part of God’s design for us, and yet, our culture glorifies running on less and less sleep. Technology ties us up later into the night. And functioning without sleep gives us the illusion of self-sufficiency. All of this is counter to God’s plan, and the answer is to respond with faith in God’s provision and rest in Him through a disciplined sleep schedule. We hope this conversation helps you reorder your schedule. We are confident you will benefit physically and spiritually if you do.

Next week we will discuss chapter 8 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk

Charlie Kirk closes out his book with some practical ideas on how to implement the sabbath into each week. While most of his ideas are not bad, they are lacking and insufficient for the believer, as we discuss. We must be careful not to make the day of worship about ourselves or too mystical, but we should instead use this time to center our thoughts and direction on the way of Christ. May this discussion be helpful to you as you navigate this area of your week.
